At Primary Dental in Denver, we know that each patient has different dental needs. We’re here to help meet those needs through routine cleanings, fillings, and other dental work, but sometimes, more advanced care is needed. We proudly offer in-office crowns, treatment for temporomandibular joint (TMJ) issues, root canals, and bridges. Keep reading to learn more!

Dental Crowns

dental crown is most often used to restore a tooth that has been damaged or become too decayed to be fixed by a filling. A crown will be custom-made to fit over the tooth, helping the tooth regain its size, shape, and function. We offer in-office crowns, so you won’t have to visit a specialist to install your crown. Over two appointments in our office, we’ll take an impression of your tooth, install a temporary crown, and then remove the temporary crown and place the permanent one once the permanent crown is ready in a few weeks.

TMJ Treatment

Injuries to the jaw, joint, or head and neck muscles can cause TMJ. Other possible reasons include clenching or grinding one’s teeth, motion or damage to the disc in the joint, arthritis in the joint, or tension causing the facial and jaw muscles to clench. Dental treatments can involve replacing missing teeth, moving teeth, or changing the bite pattern. Our dentist will examine your facial muscles to see if they are working correctly and will likely take full face X-rays to look at your jawbones, TMJ, and teeth to ensure no additional issues.

Root Canals

A root canal is a procedure to save a tooth that has been severely damaged by decay or infection. If the pulp of the tooth becomes infected, there can be severe pain and potentially an abscess that can lead to the tooth’s loss. The inside of the root canal is filled with a rubber-like material; in most cases, a crown is made to protect the tooth. This will keep the tooth from becoming weak and breaking in the future.

Dental Bridges

A dental bridge can be the ideal solution for those who are missing a tooth or several teeth in a row. Missing teeth can cause problems with eating and chewing, and you could experience jaw and mouth pain. A bridge is a fixed dental restoration, meaning it cannot be removed (such as dentures). The bridge is anchored with two crowns on either side of the gap, and the remaining teeth fill in the open space. As with a crown, a dental impression is taken for your custom bridge device, and a temporary bridge will be installed while the permanent device is being created. Once it’s ready, the dentist puts the permanent bridge in place.
